The Rose & Crown's welcoming hosts Gary & Karl
The Rose & Crown Ludlow
8 Church Street Ludlow SY8
Our Tuesday night Residency from 8.45pm - 10pm is at the Rose & Crown, just off Ludlow's Market Square.
Run by the hospitable Gary and Karl and their great bar staff, the Rose & Crown is Dog friendly, packed with
great old world charm of wooden beams and a log fire, well kept Ales, guest Gins, great atmosphere and great food.
Hidden away in a courtyard off the Market Square, the Rose & Crown is probably Ludlow’s oldest pub. There are documents showing
that there may have been an ale house on this site in 1102.
It boasts a thirteenth century mullioned window with trefoil in the rear stone wall. It was also used as coaching house for the Bewdley coach.
Nowadays, a comprehensive refurb and re-styling
by owners Joules Brewery of Market Drayton. has created a much larger pub, and yet with more intimate areas to relax in.
A hidden fireplace has been exposed and beams have been revealed which were blocked up since the 1960's.
The emphasis is
on wood, in all its various colours - some old and some new - and the flooring is mainly oak, with quarry tiling. The original restaurant has been transformed into a panelled "Mouse" room, basically the bar, and guests are invited to search for wooden mice
created by Robert "Mouseman" Thompson.
Re-opened in July 2016, the renovation is absolutely stunning, and has enabled the Rose & Crown to re-connect with its history.
The food on Sunday comprises a carvery and is therefore subject to availability
during the afternoon.
